MICHIGAN DIVING CLUBThe Michigan Diving Club seeks to provide safe and fun instruction for the sport of diving. The club will strive to enable each participant to reach and realize their full athletic potential in diving. Each athlete will be treated with respect and honesty. The club will participate in AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) and Michigan Diving League curriculum and US Diving when appropriate, and adhere to the respective rules, format and obligations.
TO JOIN MICHIGAN DIVING CLUB: Please contact the coach 734-944-0221 bergere@mail.com Come to practice with AAU registration (completed) or form (obtain from coach) and fee (AAU). You may observe practice with notice. To participate you must have proof of AAU registration, or register through the coach.
TEAM REGISTRATION: All divers must register with the AAU. It is an annual registration. The cost is $16, athlete added benefit. Online registration http://www.aausports.org , please be sure to register under the Michigan Diving Club name, club code MIDIBTEKB0 (zero at end). Please note: local competitions may require additional registration in Michigan Diving League prior to participation.
FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS All monies are payable to: Michigan Diving Club or Chris Bergere. You may bring them to the pool or mail to: 5633 Blue Grass Lane, Saline MI 48176.
Coaching Fee:
Fee amount is determined by practice attendance/frequency. This is due
the first of the month.
Club Dues: This is annual and non-refundable $35 per trimester due the first practice of the month respectively (Sept-Dec,Jan-March,April-July).
*Family Rates: The first diver will be full rate with each additional child receiving a 20% discount. This applies to Coaching & Club Dues only-all athletes must complete AAU/MDL registration.
FACILITIES Practices will be held at Canham, Natatorium (athletic complex at Hoover & S. State St.-see Home Page, Facilities). 1m & 3m boards will be utilized along with trampoline, dryland and platform equipment & exercises where deemed appropriate by the Coach.
POLICIES Divers will be divided at practice at the coach’s discretion. If you are going to be absent for more than 2 weeks a courtesy call is very much appreciated. If diving fees are not paid the athlete will not be allowed to practice. All athletes must have registration prior to practicing. All athletes are expected to behave in a safe and respectful manner to other team members and coaches. Coaches have the right to restrict practice for any athlete displaying behavior that is unsafe or disrespectful.
PROGRAMS Please keep in mind that practices are scheduled so that all divers will obtain adequate coaching time and be appropriately placed. All practices run 6-8 pm.
DIVING 101: the athlete just starting out or with limited diving experience; emphasis on building skills, confidence and experience in order to progress to new dives. 1+ hour, Mondays or Tuesdays .
MICHIGAN DIVING TEAM INTERMEDIATE: those athletes who show progression towards the skills necessary to compete at the Area & National levels, recommended practice 2x weekly.
MICHIGAN DIVING TEAM ADVANCED: those athletes demonstrating the skill and desire to compete seasonally in the Area & National levels, recommended practice 2-3x weekly.
